Frequently Asked Questions

YapCrafters is a friendly, cross-play Minecraft server with two game modes: Survival and Creative. It has been running for over a year and is focused on building a welcoming community for players on Java, Bedrock, PC, console, and mobile.

Yes! YapCrafters is 100% free and not pay-to-win. All gameplay features are earnable in-game for free. Our ranks exist only to support the server and provide cosmetic perks, chat commands, and small conveniences — never an unfair advantage.

You can join from any platform:

• Java Edition: Use IP mc.yapcrafters.com
• Bedrock (PC, mobile): IP mc.yapcrafters.com, Port 19132
• Xbox / PlayStation / Switch: Add friend YapCrafters and join from their profile

You must be at least 13 years old to play on YapCrafters. By using our server, you confirm that you meet this age requirement.

If you've been banned or muted and believe it was a mistake — or you want to explain your side — you can submit an appeal. All appeals go through our Discord.

What to include in your appeal:

• Your in-game username (or the username you were banned under)
• The reason you were given for the punishment (if you know it)
• What happened from your side — be honest and clear
• Any evidence you have (screenshots, clips, chat logs)

Submit your appeal in the Discord — staff will review it and respond. Please be patient and respectful; a well-written appeal is much more likely to be taken seriously.

Note: appeals don't guarantee a punishment will be lifted. Permanent bans for cheating, hate speech, or severe misconduct are usually upheld.

Our claim system is chunk-based — each claim protects one 16×16 chunk of land. You can claim the chunk you're standing in with a single command:

/claim

Once a chunk is claimed, only you (and anyone you trust) can break blocks, place blocks, or open chests inside it. That means no griefing, no stealing — your build is safe.

A few things to know:

• Walk or stand in the chunk you want to protect, then run /claim
• Each claim costs in-game money — there's no limit on how many chunks you can claim, as long as you can afford them
• Repeat for each chunk you want to cover — one claim per chunk
• To release a claim, stand in the chunk and run /unclaim

Tip: Claim your land as soon as you start building. Unclaimed land can be broken, looted, or built over by other players — and while we can help with rollbacks, it's much easier to just claim from the start.

There are two main ways to earn in-game money on Survival:

Jobs

Pick one or more jobs (mining, woodcutting, farming, hunting, and more) and earn money every time you do that activity. Use /jobs browse to see what's available and /jobs join <job> to join one. Your rank determines how many jobs you can have at once (Artisan unlocks 2, Magnate unlocks 3).

Player Shops

Open your own ChestShop and sell items to other players. Place a chest, put a sign on it, and follow the ChestShop format (see the ChestShop question above). This is the best way to earn if you have items other players want — and it's how most of the economy runs on our server.

Tip: Combining a job with a player shop is the fastest way to grow your balance. Mine or farm what your job rewards you for, then sell the extras in your ChestShop at a markup.

ChestShops let you sell items to other players (or buy from them) by placing a sign on a chest. Fill in the sign with this format:

• Line 1: Leave blank — the plugin automatically fills it with your name.
• Line 2: The quantity of items per sell (e.g. 64).
• Line 3: The price:
  • B 10 → players can buy from you for 10 each
  • S 5 → players can sell to you for 5 each
  • B 10 : 5 S → both (buy for 10, sell for 5)
• Line 4: The item. You have three options:
  • Type the item name or ID (e.g. Diamond)
  • Type ? to auto-fill from the item inside the chest
  • If the chest is empty, place ? on the sign, then click the sign while holding the item you want to sell

Unsure of an item's name? Hold it in your hand and run /iteminfo to see the exact ID.

Once the sign is set up, anyone can right-click the sign to buy from you, or left-click to sell to you.

PvP is optional and off by default. You decide for yourself whether you want to fight other players — nobody can attack you unless you've turned it on.

To toggle PvP, type:

/pvp

How it works:

• PvP is off by default — you're safe when you first join until you choose to enable it
• Both players must have PvP enabled for combat to work — if either side has it off, no damage is dealt
• You can turn it on or off at any time with the same /pvp command
• Disabling PvP won't protect you from mobs, fall damage, or lava — it only affects player-vs-player combat

This makes Survival safe for everyone — whether you want to compete, or just build in peace.

No — griefing and stealing are not allowed on YapCrafters. This includes destroying builds, taking items from other players' chests, and building too close to someone else's base without permission.

Protect your base by claiming your land.

Claiming your land stops other players from breaking blocks or opening chests inside your claim. If you haven't claimed yet, do it as soon as you settle somewhere — it's the easiest way to keep your stuff safe.

Griefed outside your claim? You can still get help.

Even if the damage is outside your claim — like a lava cast poured over your area, TNT craters, or someone building right on top of you — staff can roll back the damage and punish the player. Just report it.

How to report griefing or stealing:

• Take a screenshot of the damage if you can
• Include the coordinates of the damage — press F3 (Java) or enable "Show Coordinates" in settings (Bedrock) to see them. Coordinates help staff find and fix the exact spot
• Note the approximate time it happened (helps us roll back the right moment)
• Report it in our Discord in the support channel, or contact any staff member online

Reports are taken seriously — the sooner you tell us, the easier it is to fix. We can also check logs to see exactly who did what.

Both modes run on the same setup — same plugins, same Minecraft version, same redstone and farm mechanics. If a farm works in Survival, it will work exactly the same way in Creative (and vice versa).

The difference is what you do when you join:

• Survival — You spawn in a shared world with other players. Claim land, build, farm, trade, and progress through the economy.
• Creative — You spawn in your own plot and can build freely with unlimited blocks and integrated WorldEdit. Plots are auto-assigned when you first join.

We're pretty open with mods — as long as they don't give you an unfair advantage over other players, you're welcome to use them.

✅ Allowed:

• Performance mods — Sodium, Lithium, Optifine, Iris, Starlight, and similar
• Cosmetic mods — shaders, resource packs, custom HUDs, better grass
• Client launchers — Lunar Client, Badlion, Feather, and similar clients (as long as they don't include disallowed features)
• Minimaps and waypoints — full functionality, including radar and cave mode
• Other quality-of-life mods — item sorters, zoom mods, and similar

❌ Not allowed:

• Mods that exploit gameplay or give unfair advantages — this includes hacks, X-ray, killaura, aimbot, reach, fly (outside Creative), auto-clickers, and any macros that automate gameplay for you

Unsure about a mod? Ask in our Discord before using it. It's much better to ask than to get banned for something you didn't know was disallowed.

We support both Java and Bedrock Edition — including PC, mobile (iOS/Android), and consoles (Xbox, PlayStation, Switch). Cross-play is fully enabled, so players on different platforms can play together.

Thanks to ViaVersion (and its companion plugins), our server almost always supports the latest Minecraft version as soon as it releases — you don't have to downgrade or wait for us to update. Just keep your game up to date and you'll be able to join.

If a brand-new version isn't supported yet (rare), it usually takes only a few days for the plugins to catch up. We'll announce any downtime in our Discord.

Try these steps:

• Double-check the IP: mc.yapcrafters.com
• For Bedrock, make sure the port is 19132
• Restart Minecraft and try again
• Check our home page for the latest server status and announcements — that's where we post downtime notices and updates

Yes! On Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch, add the friend YapCrafters in Minecraft, then join the server from their profile. Cross-play with Java and mobile players is fully supported.

It means every gameplay feature on YapCrafters can be earned in-game for free. Ranks are purely optional and give cosmetic perks, chat commands, and small conveniences — never gameplay advantages like better gear, more damage, or exclusive content.

After a successful purchase through PayNow.gg, your rank is automatically applied to your Minecraft account. If you don't see it in-game, rejoin the server or contact support via Discord.

All purchases are final and non-refundable, except as required by applicable law. See our Terms of Service for full details on purchases and ranks.

A permanent ban strips all ranks and perks immediately, and no refunds will be provided — even if the ban is later lifted. Temporary bans do not permanently revoke your rank, but you can't use its perks during the ban.
